The final report [German] of the study on the realignment of the NRW bioeconomy strategy is now online!
The aim of the study was to create a systematic overview of bioeconomy activity in NRW and to analyze the expectations and perceptions of the relevant actors for a revised bioeconomy strategy in NRW in order to identify thematic and/or regionalized approaches and needs and to address them specifically in the revised strategy.

The head office of the Bonn Alliance and the working group “Alternative Sustainabilities” (working title) at the University of Bonn are addressing scientists at all career levels and from different disciplines with a short online survey to collect diverse approaches to what we call “sustainability”, especially by activating knowledge from regional sciences and from context-specific research projects.
The accelerated adoption of D&AI has fuelled the discussion on the responsible use of technology for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Responsible means thinking well about the risks and opportunities it may pose for the SDGs. In this paper, we present a participatory tool that can help identify the potential of D&AI to the SDGs at the indicator level.
The German Advisory Council on Global Change has just published a new Policy Brief dealing with these issues on „Beyond Climate Neutrality“ ahead of the climate conference. Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, director of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) as one of the members oft he WBGU, participated in the discussion and the writing of the Policy Brief.
In 2021, the deliberations of the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) were again held virtually. They were dedicated to the possibilities and perspectives of sustainable and resilient crisis management on the occasion of the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of an inclusive and effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) was represented by its high-ranking representative, Deputy Director, Prof. Dr. Imme Scholz in various discussions.
Tilman Altenburg, Head of Programme “Transformation of Economic and Social Systems” at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) sets forth how German development cooperation could establish a unique profile from which, incidentally, the German economy would also stand to benefit.
Ramona Hägele and Mirja Schoderer demonstrate why marine CO2 measurements provide essential inputs for climate change scenarios, for international climate change negotiations and policies around the globe. They explain why it is so important that data on marine CO2 observations is openly shared, cognitively accessible by various kinds of users, and trustworthy.
