We would like to invite you on
October 29, 3-5 pm,
to discuss possible cooperation on topics related to mobility and migration,
based on a presentation of the results of a research mapping we have conducted within the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research.

The Innovation Campus Bonn (ICB), powered by the Bonn Alliance, covers three initial research priorities: digitalization and artificial intelligence, mobility and migration, as well as bioeconomy. Within the research priority “mobility and migration”, the Bonn Alliance partners have an outstanding portfolio of (complementary) research and policy support programs. The Head Office of the Bonn Alliance has undertaken an effort to collect, present and communicate this unique competence as a unitary whole. On this basis, we can approach overarching questions which arise from the complex developments in the field of “mobility and migration”:

On a global level, we observe that the relationship between transnationally mobile actors (including investors and companies, international NGOs, migrants) and stationary actors (such as governments, vulnerable population groups) is changing. New communication technologies, for example, allow very different actors to network and act transnationally. New, highly dynamic relationships are emerging that stand in the way of maintaining manifest and previously established boundaries. These shifts are complex and come with challenges and opportunities that need multiple perspectives and problem-solving techniques to be dealt with.

We would like to discuss mutual thematic interests and possible cooperation in this field with you!

The presentation with subsequent discussion takes place on zoom.

Our program looks as follows:

  • Results of the survey: Status Quo of mobility and migration in the Bonn Alliance
  • Cooperation under the umbrella of the ICB
  • Proposals for cooperation and formats from the Head Office, for joint discussion
  • Outlook on the further procedure and further meetings/ sessions

Discussing the items mentioned above gives us the opportunity to define further steps together, based on your specific interests, needs and capacities.

Colleagues who are interested in cooperation in mobility and migration are warmly welcome to join us. Please feel free to forward this invitation!

(Participation in the mapping is not a prerequisite; affiliation with the Bonn Alliance partner institutions is not a prerequisite.)

Please contact Sandra Gilgan (s.gilgan@uni-bonn.de) until October 26, 2020, if you are interested in joining the workshop.
